ABOUT ME
I have been in the Millinery business for many years having studied Fashion at the Grafton Academy in Dublin and later Millinery in London.
My love of hats and the level of detail and craftsmanship that goes into each hand made piece was further developed under the attentive eye of Milliner Jacinta Fahy. I have also worked with many of the leading Irish designers for their clients and fashion shows which are a great thrill for me.
While my hats are very much on trend, I guess you could say that there is a slight theatrical theme to them which I put down in part to my previous work as a costume maker in the Abbey Theatre and more recently to designing and making hats for period TV dramas and films.
Each of my bespoke hats is designed, hand died, hand-made with a lot of time, care and attention to detail to ensure quality, comfort for the wearer, and that each one delivers that something special.
When designing a one off piece for a client it is not just about my ideas. It is important for me that they feel engaged in the whole creative process from start to finish, from arriving with the fabric sample, to coming up with their design incorporating the elements of their outfit and personality, to the finished piece.
However, what gives me the greatest pleasure is the look on their face when they try on the finished piece for the first time. When I see the happiness and the confidence that they feel wearing it, I know I have done a good job.
